Best organizer ever December 19, 2009 J. Grubb (Ohio) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was looking for something to carry several different sizes of fasteners and other hobby related items outside where I fly rockets and airplanes. The chance of a toolbox getting knocked over or dropped or just falling over on uneven ground is greater than if you are just using it in your garage or basement.
The Lift-n-Lok works exactly as it says and fits my purposes very well. Everything I need fits in it and with just one movement the entire box is locked with no chance of things moving from compartment to compartment.
At first I thought the price was a little high but the old adage, "you get what you pay for" seems to fit here. This is a very high quality case. The drawers feel like they are on bearings and work very smoothly unlike most other plastic storage cases.
The only drawback I can find is that the size of the diameter of the handle is too large. It would be more comfortable to carry if trhe handle were a little smaller. The reason for the size may be the locking mechanism that it operates.
Great box. I'm thinking of buying another.
Wonderful In Its Simplicity February 26, 2010 Jerry Morelock (Knoxville, TN United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the kind of amazingly simple and wonderfully utilitarian device that you realize you coulda, shoulda, thought of it yourself.
This is going to be brief--
As a retired metal trades craftsman, I wish I'd had a toolbox like this when I was carrying one every day. I begrudge you smart folks who buy one of these all the hours you're going to save not having to pick up/resort your mixed parts and tools either because a latch failed or you simply forgot to latch or latched improperly. And I'm not sure, but I also think this box is going to reduce the incidence of jammed drawers--maybe even eliminate them.
I can't believe anybody who buys one of these would ever have reason to regret it.
Great box, but be aware of dimensions. June 6, 2010 daycare mom (minnesota) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I use my box as a sewing box. The box I have is grey and pink. The specs for all the sizes of each drawer, the top part, and even the individual compartments can be found at their website pdysystems.com/tool_tech-info.php. I used these specs to help determine if the box would fit in the space I had alloted for it, as well as the size I had available for holding boxes of thread, bobbins, etc inside of it. The specs can be a bit misleading, however. The inside of the cover and the upper unit have angled "fins" of the same molded plastic material, I am sure for extra reinforcement. These fins take up about an inch of space inside under the handle, as well as a half-inch to inch within the upper unit part. These annoyed me, as I needed that extra space to hold thread boxes. So, little modifier that I am, I snipped them out! (There goes the warranty...) The box is now perfect for me in every way, and the strength of the box has not been affected at all. If I were using the box as a tool box and lugging it around job sites, the extra reinforcement might be needed, but not for my purposes. All of my sewing supplies are now in one box: thread, needles, scissors, etc. and all remain segregated in their own little compartments. Love it!
use; cake decorating tool box April 17, 2010 Fred (Belpre, Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this tool box to store my cake decorating tools, icing bags and decorating tips in. Most boxes made for this purpose did not suite my needs. This is the perfect box for me. Drawers store my decorating tips, paste color bottles and other small items, while the larger top box stores all my other larger tools of the trade. Perfect box for the cake decorator.
Lift-n-lok April 15, 2010 Richard Hammond It seems to be a good tool box. I like how the drawers lock once the handle is raised. I would recommend it to others.
